What Inspired you to do a Soul Art journey?
I like the idea of creating simultaneously with a community who believes in the healing power of art. In these dark times, many are now called to be lightworkers to spread love, hope, and joy. That journey of being a lightworker starts with healing oneself, and experiencing interconnectedness as well–not only with fellow human beings, but with nature and God. Art can help us do that.
How would you describe your creative process?
Inspired by my kids’ freedom to create, my creative process is flowy and intuitive. Most of the time, I create for fun and processing difficult emotions I cannot express in words. When I create on my own and in the groups I facilitate, we always do guided imaging with an intention. Though I do not have a defined process for everything, as I am still in the discovery stage and I do not like “to put it in a box.”
Joining this year’s Soul Art Day as a participant is such a breath of fresh air for me, since I am used to creating alone or facilitating a group. The creative doors were really helpful put me into a deeper intuitive state, even without the meditation.
I used watercolors, markers, and acrylic paints for painting. I also created a bit of collage and had so much fun!
What insight did you receive from your Soul Art?
These are “flashes of insight” I received while I was making my hand artworks on my journal to a bigger space where I worked on my feet. What came up for me was a shift from questions to immediate answers that came intuitively as I held space for myself and just let it flow:
“How can I channel anger and grief into something peaceful and healing for me and others?”
“I can hold peace”
“The earth taught me to be kind”
“Where are my steps leading to?”
“I STEP INTO MY POWER HAPPILY”
What is the most important thing you would like to share about your Soul Art experience?
Creating art is not just about having fun or relaxation. Creating with others can help you learn a lot about your deepest self and discover how your experiences resonate deeply with others as well–even if you do not know each other. Experiencing that interconnectedness is healing and powerful–something I would like to share through the work I will continue to make.
