What Inspired you to do a Soul Art journey?
My inspiration for this year’s Soul Art Journey was the birth of my daughter and my initiation into motherhood. It has been a very long and difficult journey and I had to do a lot of healing work on the way.
I wanted to honor my experience and celebrate my maternity and my daughter with this piece.
How would you describe your creative process?
I started with a photograph that I had taken a day before the birthing process started – this part represents the journey of pregnancy. Also, I made a stencil pattern of my daughter’s little hand to add into the picture – for me, this represents her and my birth into a new state of being.
First, I explored my photo with lines, I rooted myself down, and then explored the big round belly in the photo with rainbow colors. My daughter is a rainbow child (meaning she came after the previous loss of my first baby) so the colors are very significant for me. Also, each color brings in different creative energy that I fuether explored with abstract shapes in the picture.
I did this part during the live session while nursing my daughter with one arm (because she would not stop fuzzing and crying) – it felt like a very practical initiation into embodiment of motherhood.
I continued the drawing for several days afterwards, added her hands around and on top of my body, and then transformed the drawing with lines and colors to where I received rainbow wings.
What insight did you receive from your Soul Art?
So many insights came during the process. The biggest one being around my ability to be a mother and fully embody this new stage in my life. I received guidance around listening to my daughter, being guided by her, as I am taking her hand. The wings symbolize my transformation and help me see that I am being lifted into a new state of being that is open to new experiences and at the same time I am deeply rooted.
I hold my power in my hands and I have a lot to express and share. And most of all, I am here to nurture and support this beautiful and precious new live.
What is the most important thing you would like to share about your Soul Art experience?
This was the most empowering art experience for me. Especially as I was being witnessed in my process (being one of the featured artists during the live event).
The Art is not only healing and deeply transforative, but the community and the group energy of this event made it into a deeply nourishing and empowering process for me.
Thank you so much for making this possible. I am truly looking forward to the next one.
