Why have you chosen the artist path?
I guess it has chosen me! The artist path hasn’t really been a choice—it’s something that’s always been a part of me. From when I was a little child, it has guided me through every stage of my life. In my heart and soul, I carry the Spirit of creativity, wanderlust and discovery. Art is the language that not only expresses my essence but also fills me with incredible joy and life force. It’s not just a path I’ve chosen—it’s the thread that runs through everything I do.
How do you move through challenges that come up in your creative process?
One of the precious gifts the Soul Art® Certification has given me is that I learned to trust completely in the creative process!
Soul Art has shown me how to surrender fully to my Creative Spirit, without fear or judgment.
Allowing the journey to unfold naturally.
I trust 180 percent in this process!
And that’s a gift that’s truly priceless, and fills my heart with gratitude!
The challenges are just part of the flow.
I’ve learned to embrace them, knowing they are opportunities for growth.
Through Soul Art, I’ve come to understand that the creative process has its own wisdom, and when I trust it fully, I find the answers I need.
What do you love about your art?
What I love about my art is that it makes the invisible visible.
It tells me a thousand stories, each one unfolding as I create.
When I immerse myself in it, I can travel and lose myself in its magic, and it always touches my heart and soul.
It makes me feel alive, as if it nourishes me, like water does for a plant or tree.
My art gives me roots in this world, grounding me while allowing me to explore the depths of my being.
It’s so generous in offering me the water my soul needs to thrive.

About Dechen Verschueren
From rebelious child of the night to nomadic artist, Tibetan nun, and Soul Art® guide—my journey has never followed a straight line. India, Spain, the Himalayas, heartbreak, healing—all shaped me. Along the way, I’ve carried many names: Catherina, Carin, Kaatje, Dechen. Each holds a piece of who I’ve become.
Art became my sanctuary when words failed—a space to breathe, to feel, to remember.
Soul Art® helped me reclaim my joy, creativity, and sense of worth when live took me on a journey through the dark night of the Soul.
Since becoming a Certified Soul Art guide in 2019, I now offer that space to others: safe, sacred, and free.
A space where you can express and celebrate the full spectrum of who you are.
