Susan Schaefer Bernardo's Soul Art

What Inspired you to do a Soul Art journey?

Visual arts have an incredibly powerful healing tool for me, and have helped me cope with traumatic events, grief and anxiety. My work as an author sometimes gets me stuck in my head – painting and sculpting access a deeper, unconscious part of me that frees and nourishes my spirit. I just released a novel titled INSPIRED that I have been working on for many years – and Soul Art Day came along as I was feeling a deep need to recharge my energy!

How would you describe your creative process?

Once I get my materials in front of me, and do some deep listening, the art flows like lava. Something deep inside me – or the voice of the Universe – is telling me what to do next, what color paint, what brush…it’s like my soul is instructing the process. I usually have no idea of the end image when I start.

What insight did you receive from your Soul Art?

I need to move my creative energy – fire up my feet – dance more – and trust that my heart is my source of power.

What is the most important thing you would like to share about your Soul Art experience?

Let your Soul lead the way! It is vitally important to strengthen our creativity and intuition – art is a powerful tool to access our soul purpose and remind us why we are here.
